The excursion about the Arni Valley geosites has passed the Vestito Pass, along the main road to Massa, where a beautiful panoramic view allows to see some major structures of the Apuan tectonic window. The visit to the Equi Terme karst-paleontological park has started from the "Buca" cave and karst spring, with the delegation overlooking from a natural terrace above the valley of Fagli Stream.

The tour continued with a climb to the "Tecchia", a huge shelter under rock, with deposits of considerable paleontological and archaeological interest, due to the presence of remains of Würmian faunas and Mousterian-Neolithic stone industries.

After the visit to Equi Terme "Buca" and "Tecchia", the visit to the Equi Terme karst-paleontological park ends at the Caves Museum.

The busy day on Saturday ended with a short trip by car along the Solco d'Equi fluvio-glacial gorge, to reach - in Valtredi area - the lowest point (410 m asl), reached by a glacier during the last Ice Age.

The scientific library of the Park headquarters in Massa hosted the meeting with the evaluators to verify the documents and the self-assessment - presented by the Park Authority in November 2010 - in order to obtain the membership in the European and Global Geoparks Network.
