On 19th June 1996, an extremely heavy rainstorm occurred in Versilia and Garfagnana (southern Apuan Alps).
The rainstorm caused a devastanting flood and hundreds of landslides and debris flows, that produced huge damage and killed 14 people.
The event of 19th June 1996 was of an exceptional magnitude: 474 mm rainfall was recorded within 12 hours only...
